Psychotherapy

I’m Stacey Thurman, a registered psychotherapist, and I deeply understand that life can present us with myriad challenges. With over 20 years of experience in social services, I have had the honour of supporting individuals—children, youth, adults, and couples—who are navigating various neurodivergence, relationship, emotional, and mental health struggles. I want to acknowledge the courage it takes to seek help, and I approach our work together with empathy and compassion, prioritizing a client-centred and strength-based approach.

I genuinely believe that every individual possesses unique strengths, which are essential to your healing and growth. In our sessions, I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness practices. These techniques are tailored specifically to you, ensuring that we focus on what resonates most with your personal journey.

At Beyond the Blink, my mission is to empower you with the tools and insights you need to navigate the complexities of life. While uncertainty is a part of the human experience, I believe that with the right support, it can become a path toward empowerment and growth. I’m here to walk beside you on this journey, offering guidance and understanding every step of the way.

Beyond the Blink

“Beyond the Blink” invites us to consider the profound journey of unfreezing our experiences, one blink at a time. Drawing on the principles of EMDR therapy, which uses eye movements to help process trauma, this concept goes deeper than the physical act of blinking. It encourages us to discover the emotional breakthroughs, subconscious healing, and transformative changes that can arise from confronting our past.

This process is not just about moving our eyes; it is about a courageous venture into the depths of our psyche and soul, addressing the trauma that we may have carried for far too long. A blink is just a fleeting moment, yet it can hold so much weight. By choosing to go "beyond the blink," we can learn to slow down and become truly present, allowing ourselves to access deeper layers of awareness that often remain hidden in the rush of daily life. This journey is an invitation to move past the surface — beyond reflex and reaction — and into a more compassionate understanding of our experiences. Moreover, a blink symbolizes the divide between what is seen and what is unseen, serving as a threshold into a space rich with possibility.

“Beyond the Blink” reminds us that there is healing available in the in-between — a connection to our consciousness, spirit, ancestral memories, and the unseen forces that guide us on our healing journeys. When it comes to trauma, we understand that it can become locked away in moments that flash by us in an instant — a blink, a jarring experience. Moving “beyond the blink” is an empowering step toward transcending that overwhelming initial moment and reclaiming a sense of wholeness. It’s essential to remember that we are not defined solely by the moments where trauma occurred; there is so much more to our lives and healing beyond those experiences.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

The most profound insights I’ve gained in my journey as a therapist come from the individuals like you who sit beside me and courageously share their stories. It’s in these moments of vulnerability that we find the richest opportunities for understanding and healing.
